Jaanymili Bawrrungga is a Bowraville community-based organisation that has the unique role of progressing the priorities of Solution Brokerage. Key areas driving our work are - developing capabilities, meaningful services, good governance and leadership, and socio-cultural sustainability.
Jaanymili Bawrrungga has come out of tragedy, strength and resilience. Our focus is to bring everyone together, build on strengths and knowledge, and support our community to develop solutions and make positive choices. We encourage open communication and connections, and coordinate community gatherings to enable better service coordination, understanding of service gaps, and a coordinated approach to funding opportunities.
Jaanymili Bawrrungga provides guidance, advice, advocacy, and support in the development and planning of programs and provides effective advice and information between government and community. Our focus is to work together with community to: Improve social and emotional wellbeing of individuals and families in our community.
Support community to make positive choices Support building capacity and capability with individuals to create training and employment pathways especially for young people. Promote cultural awareness and cultural protocols to value local Gumbaynggirr people. Advocate for more affordable housing for families, young people, and older people. Creating a space for cultural arts and enterprise for local Gumbaynggirr people. Support new infrastructure for Bowraville’s economic growth to create employment.
Jaanymili Bawrrungga fosters a coordinated, cohesive, and holistic approach to build lasting community resilience in Bowraville. Our work to date supports individual and community capacity and capability building. We acknowledge the significance of culture within our community and in all the work we do. Our projects and service delivery align with our key priority areas.
These four priorities were developed with the Bowraville community. They are statements of strategic intent, and together with the objectives, they provide the basis for setting JB annual business planning goals and milestones for each financial year of this plan. The priorities needing prompt attention will be brought forward for early action and completion, and more complex projects will be spread across two or three years recognizing the lead-in requirements and the more challenging development issues.
